Already Columbus’ top independent PR firm, Geben Communication, has ambitious growth goals. To help us build a smart, effective communications strategy for a mix of clients, we’re seeking a Communication Specialist to partner closely with our clients and account teams.

Brainstorming ideas, executing media or influencer outreach, or drafting smart content sums up a day in the life, but every day is different. The perfect candidate is deadline-driven, results-oriented, and has a knack for business.

Geben works with a range of B2B and B2C clients, from startups and emerging brands to Fortune 200 companies … and everything in between. We have a special affinity for mission-driven nonprofits and foundations, as well as for-profit brands that share our commitment to Do Well By Doing Good. We accelerate clients’ growth through smarter communication, specializing in public relations, social media, digital marketing, and data analytics/insights.

 
 

We’re hiring a communication specialist who plays by our House Rules. We need a motivated PR pro who can deliver business-oriented PR strategy and content to our clients. In this unique role, every day will be different, but you will: 

Internal Strategy Communication for Specific Client

  • Proactively offer recommendations to elevate communication, with an eye on accelerating progress and fostering buy-in from key stakeholders (internal and external)

  • Lead implementation of communication across multiple client workstreams

  • Provide a holistic view of communication across all the various workstreams to ensure timing and messages are strategically deployed

  • Partner with client stakeholders to uncover communication needs, understand potential pain points and develop clear, concise materials to disseminate information

  • Liaise with vendors to execute communication materials (e.g., graphics, printing, fulfillment, distribution, etc.)

Client Services

  • Lead the creation or elevation of goals-oriented communication strategies for clients to deliver meaningful impact. In this role, it is your responsibility to:

    • Discuss strategies with the internal team and client

    • Coach teams on how to execute a strategy

    • Develop and execute strategies for select clients (Note: Execution will be focused on more complex activities that require your experience, perspective or acumen)

    • Play an active role in consistently developing and securing media placements, award recognition, and speaking engagements

  • Develop content marketing strategies for clients that align with their overarching communication strategies

  • Research, write and edit content on key accounts. This will include both short- and long-form content 

  • Counsel clients on an integrated PR/digital strategy

  • Brainstorm creative, innovative campaign concepts to support client retention and growth

  • Partner with account managers to create compelling and effective PR, social media and content marketing strategies

  • Build and nurture relationships with key media contacts

  • Suggest (and, when appropriate, help arrange) mutually beneficial connections and partnerships as a value-add for clients

Innovation/Industry Expertise 

  • Remain on top of specific industry trends, PR trends and tactics, and counsel account leads and clients on efficiencies that create impact

  • Partner and connect Geben accounts in terms of multi-client pitches, event opportunities, speaking engagements, etc.
